- New England Storm Restoration
- February 27, 2010
- On Target Utility Locating, Pole Setting and Power Line Crews are out in force supporting the efforts of dozens of telecommunication and power utility companies after two major weather events.
Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS), Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH), Central Maine Power (CMP), Fairpoint, Comcast, Verizon, National Grid, Western Mass Electric and Time Warner are just some of the companies hit hard that On Target is helping out.

On Target locate technicians, power line and pole setting crews are working around the clock to get systems back up and running. Locate technicians are performing emergency dig safes on hundreds, possibly thousands, of utility poles in the New England area that were snapped in half due to winds reaching over 60 miles per hour. Power line and pole set crews have been working with CVPS, PSNH and CMP since mid day on Wednesday the 24th. At the peak of the outages there were over 400,000 outages at these three utilities alone!
Three full time fleet mechanics are on the road with the fleet service truck and back at the maintenance garage in Portland, Maine keeping up with all of the requests, assuring that the crews have safe working vehicles throughout the storm. Office, warehouse and Project Management personnel are covering the phones, computers, and GPS fleet system 24 hours a day to keep the communication flowing amongst the crews and customers.

- Telecommunication Crews Keeping Busy
- April 01, 2009
On Target aerial line crews are busy running fiber optic cable throughout Maine. They are also keeping up with damage caused by harsh weather conditions this past winter. On Target has been running new fiber optic cable in Fryeburg, Houlton and Howland. They are also running fiber optic cable up Route 1 from Portland to Brunswick. Line crews and fiber optic technicians are now busy running laterals and splicing in the new customers along the routes.
Restoration services have also helped support the long winter months. Much like On Target electric power line crews, the telecommunication line crews, fiber technicians and pole set crews have been busy keeping up with the damage caused by the recent snow and ice events. On Target supports many of the fiber and copper communication system operators throughout Maine and New England. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, On Target is on call in the event of system interruption.
- Power Line Upgrades
- April 01, 2009
On Target transmission crews are currently working off road re-rating power transmission lines near Carrabassett Valley, Maine. The conditions are harsh and the terrain ranges from flat field areas to steep cliffs. The crews are using environmentally friendly tracked vehicles to travel to and from the work site. The vehicles used to perform the work are also track buckets and track cranes much like the one pictured above. This line rebuild will prepare the grid for future energy output from wind farms in this area of northern Maine.
On Target pole setting crews will also be in the area setting over 200 roadside distribution poles. Many of the poles will need to be set in ledge. On Target is uniquely qualified to perform this service. On Target has a large fleet of utility pole setting vehicles that include ledge trucks that assure timely completion. On Target's pole set crews have years of experience. They can set hundreds of poles for a utility project or just one at a time for a private land owner.
